Picture Perfect (Non-Sparkler) Wedding Exits

We’ve all seen it—that picture-perfect moment, the groom dipping his bride inside two walls of sparklers held by 200 of their closest friends and family members. Sparklers are a standard wedding exit for good reasons: they’re fun, interactive, and they photograph well.

Looking for your own sparklers? You can add them to your BE package!

But what if you want something a bit less standard? The Bluebonnet Events team has put together our list of our favorite non-sparkler wedding exits, divided into daytime send-off and nighttime send-off ideas:

Our Recommendations for Nighttime Wedding Exits:

  1. Lighted Balloons

Clear balloons with LED lights are a unique choice, and they create a magical, whimsical feel to your wedding exit. Because these helium-filled balloons take up quite a bit of photograph space, this option is especially great for our couples with smaller guest lists.

  1. Foam Light Wands

Light wands are perfect for our fun-loving couples! Have your coordinator pass them out on the dance floor, with instructions for guests to take them to the send-off. After spending your evening dancing, your wand exit will continue the energetic atmosphere of your wedding reception.

  1. Light-Up Ribbon Wands

In addition to photographing well and creating a fun aesthetic, light-up ribbon wands are incredibly affordable. When you customize them, they also make for great wedding favors!

  1. Pillar Candle Aisle

Whoever said your wedding exit has to be interactive? An aisle of pillar candles will create an elegant runway for the newlyweds to make their exit. Rather than waving sparklers or other items, your guests can line up with their champagne glasses and toast as you make your exit.

Our Recommendations for Daytime Wedding Exits:

  1. Balloon Toss

A balloon toss is a playful, unique send-off that can be personalized with your wedding colors. As you and your new spouse exit your ceremony or reception, guests will toss balloons over your heads. As they fall, your photographer can capture a lighthearted photo op. Make sure the balloons are non-helium so they don’t float away!

  1. Pop-Out Streamers

No-mess, pop-out streamer tubes are becoming one of the most popular wedding exit options. Streamers come in many colors, but the traditional silver streamers are a popular choice for our brides. In the daytime, these streamers give a photography effect similar to sparklers or tossed confetti, but without the mess or stress!

  1. Leaf Toss

There are few things we love more than a fall wedding, and what is more fall appropriate than seasonal leaves? This easy, environmentally-friendly wedding exit idea is low maintenance, and will cultivate a romantic, natural end to your wedding day.

  1. Ribbon wands

Ribbon wands are fun for kids and adults alike! Before your send-off, distribute ribbon wands to your guests, featuring long ribbons in your wedding colors. As you exit, your friends and family will create a beautiful visual effect, perfect for photos.

  1. Bubbles/bubble guns

Bubbles are a budget- and logistic-friendly wedding exit that work in every venue! For daytime exits, bubbles photograph especially well. Hand bubble wands are an easy option, or you can take it a step further and purchase inexpensive bubble guns for your guests. Both options make a great wedding favor!

Notice something missing? Our team purposely left off popular options like tosses of glitter, confetti, and other small items. These options often have detrimental environmental effects, and even when they don’t, they may result in extra costs for you. Venues often charge couples “clean-up fees” when confetti (even the biodegradable kind), petals, and other small items are left behind.
